The Detroit Wall of Music
Tasked with creating an interactive interface about Detroit, my partner Misho and I began looking at all the songs that mention the city of Detroit. Needless to say there were a lot. We wanted to create a way for people to interact with all of these songs, and express their opinions on them. To that end we obtained a RFID (radio frequency identification device) reader and gave each song its own frequency. Each frequency was placed on a card with all the information about the song. When the card is held up to the reader, the song plays. The cards were placed in the shape of Detroit, but were easy for people to move and replace, so songs people liked ended up closer to the center, while disliked songs ended up on the outskirts...or the trash.
